DROPPING LIKE FLIES
musicbank.net
As the few regular readers of BankNote$ will know, we've never been too keen on positivity and generosity of spirit. Nah, it's much more fun to criticize- thus this week's favourite game is watching those e-commerce megabusinesses fall to their knees.
You know who we're thinking of. First up, Lastminute.com whose shares seem to drop every day. Oh how we laughed as Martha Lane Fox and co's net worth dropped by half to a mere £19 million or so. How will they cope? An article in the Observer claims that to make good on their valuation, Lastminute.com will have to attract 100 times more customers, each spending on average seven times as much. And this from a site aimed at bargain hunters...
But don't forget CDNow. Last week it was reported that, like many major portals, CDNow have run out of money. Of course, they sent out a press release denying the allegations: "We have at least six months' cash left". That's okay then.
Who's next for the chop though? Anyone vote for Peoplesound.com?
