It's a voluntary contribution; people can choose to respond to the
invitation as they see fit.
But seeing as you're the first person to turn this on its head and ask *me*
for payment, I'll be glad to oblige. Let's say listening to one song of mine
has caused you three minutes of pain and wasted time. Dividing an average
wage of five pounds an hour by three minutes I estimate that I have cost you
25 pence.
I am sending the 25 pence to you via Internet payment standard PayPal
(http://www.paypal.com)- as PayPal requires figures to be exchanged into
dollars I have rounded up to $0.40. Expect an e-mail following this one
detailing how you can collect the payment. It's simple, quick and your
privacy is protected.
Of course in this one instance I have not charged you for the time and
effort taken in composing this letter.
Thanks for your message, please keep well.

NB: On Feb 24, Karen sent a gracious letter refusing the money offered to her.
For a limited time only I will offer similar compensation to anyone who can write in with evidence that listening to my music has caused them pain or wasted time. Simply e-mail me at mail@tobyslater.com.
Meanwhile, those of you who have enjoyed my music or the website are welcome to make a voluntary - ie not compulsory - contribution via either Amazon.com or Fairtunes.com:
