[careinthecommunity] Putney gig
Despite any misgivings on Toby's behalf, tonight's gig was difficult to
fault. If you weren't there, you really missed out. (And if you were there,
we really need to figure out some way of recognising each other...)
The set list was much the same as the previous gig, but a few songs that
hadn't seemed as vital at the Camden gig really came alive. As a result, the
whole set gathered momentum and strength. 'Twas also a less anonymous venue,
which helped a lot.
Like Camden, though, a lot of the punters seemed to be there to see Toby -
the place emptied out once the second band started up (and with due cause -
imagine an 80s wank-metal band fronted by Meatloaf...) Hopefully they made a
few pounds this times as well.
Although there's been some comment about their lack of movement on stage, the
fact is that the band played consistently well, and that it allows Toby to
retain the focal role, one with which he seems increasingly comfortable.
I should rave more, but I promised to keep this short. Suffice to say that I
don't think anyone left disappointed. Oh, and most importantly of all, we
were witness to another unveiling of the famous grey cardie (no relation to
the blue raincoat).
