Simultaneously a passionate, bare-bones Celtic singer/songwriter and a fully paid-up member of the "anti-New Acoustic Movement", Joan Coffey likes to acknowledge - and laugh at - the contradictions in life. She's a graduate of LAMDA yet not in the least bit pretentious; her songs are plaintive and moving but still full of humour.
Signed to BBC Music Publishing, Coffey has recorded at top London studios such as Olympic and the Townhouse as well as holding her own music night at New York's lower East Side Sidewalk Cafe. On one occasion Joan played a star-studded cast party at the request of Stellar French actress Juliette Binoche.
