gOinG to soUTH by sOUThwEst festival 2002? ...or maybe you live in or near Austin? Your help needed! I'm tobyslater, an independent singer/songwriter from London, England. I've just been offered a showcase at the South by Southwest music seminar in Austin, Texas next March. The time and date is set as Friday March 15th, 8pm, at Maggie Mae's, 321 E. Sixth Street, Austin. (Over-21s only, sorry) If you're interested in coming along please e-mail me and I'll let you know. I *may* be able to organise guest list or reduced-priced tickets but again I don't yet know for sure. But regularly-priced tickets will be available, plus anyone with an SXSW wristband or pass will be able to get in for free. It's a really exciting opportunity; however, getting myself and a band out to the United States will involve a lot of organising and quite some expense. That's okay as long as I can make the most of it and ensure that enough people who will be attending the festival are aware in advance of my gig. whAT yoU cAn do... If you're going to be at South by Southwest or live in Austin, get in touch. I'll give you details of the gig as soon as I have them. If you work in radio, TV, the live music industry or the press anywhere in the States or UK and want to get a copy of my music on CD, just forward your details to me and I'll send you a copy.
